I am a licensed home birth midwife serving families in the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene areas. I was born in the Spokane area in a wildly exciting home birth in which I came flying out of my mother way too fast and landed on my dad’s foot, it’s my claim to fame to this day. I guess you could say my journey to midwifery began there.
I love travel and have spent time living and doing mission work in developing and third world nations. I spent 8 years working with a non-profit Christian missions organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM). My work with YWAM brought me to areas of the world such as Thailand, Cambodia, Azerbaijan, Kenya, Uganda and the Philippines. It is because of the exposure to the world and it’s needs that I was compelled to become a midwife.
I did my midwifery training in the Philippines where I worked full time “catching babies” and caring for pregnant women at a high volume Christian charity based birth center serving impoverished women and their families.
I have two goals for client care. One is that each client would finish care feeling empowered in their birth experience and that would in turn empower them in other areas of their life. The second and equally important goal is that each client would have a safe a peaceful birth.
My heart’s desire is to use midwifery as a tool to serve the community around me and to be a blessing to others. I believe that birth is such an amazing and God designed process and I feel privileged to support women and their families throughout the childbearing cycle.
I attended the National College of Midwifery and was dual enrolled in Newlife International School of Midwifery based in Davao City, Philippines from 2012-2014. I spent my time in the Philippines studying and working at a high volume birth center doing prenatal and postpartum care and of course attending births.
After graduating from midwifery school in 2014 I took the national midwifery board exam offered by NARM (North American Registry of Midwives) and received my CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) credential.
In January 2015 I met the requirements for Washington State licensure and became a Licensed Midwife.
In September 2021 I met the requirements for Idaho State licensure.
I maintain current certification in both my CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation.
In 2023 I completed a hands on in person training in vaginal breech birth through Breech Without Borders.
My midwifery journey began at a young age with a passion for God’s design for birth and a calling to compassionate care. That calling inspired me to become a doula at sixteen and pursue midwifery training after graduating high school.
I completed my midwifery training through the National College of Midwifery at a US clinic serving impoverished and disenfranchised women in the Philippines.
In 2011, I graduated with my Associate’s in Midwifery and passed my national board exam, becoming credentialed as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM).
After becoming a licensed midwife, I returned to Christian medical missions. For nearly a decade, it was my privilege to serve and provide midwifery care to impoverished women in low-resource areas of Mexico, Honduras, Morocco, and Albania. My love of travel and service continues to this day.
Though I am now based in Spokane, my early work as a midwife underlies my commitment today to increasing access to competent, compassionate, and individualized care. To this end, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Midwifery in 2019 and my Master of Science in Nutrition in 2022.
Having attended clients in birth centers, clinics, hospitals, and homes worldwide, I am passionate about tailoring care to empower and honor every client on their unique journey. It is my prayer to be a blessing to each family I work with and support you in having a safe and beautiful birth experience.
When I was 16, my parents decided to have their fifth baby at home. Watching my sister come shooting out onto my dad’s foot, I was hooked! In 2014, I spent some time in the Philippines volunteering at Mercy Maternity Clinic, learning and honing my skills as a birth assistant. I have been privileged to attended over one hundred births and I love being able to serve families in this capacity.
In September 2020, I received my certification as a breastfeeding counselor. I believe that breastfeeding support is an essential component of postpartum care. My goal is to give families the support and knowledge they need to help them in their breastfeeding journey.
