Having Rebekah’s calm, comforting, and peaceful spirit made my prenatal through postpartum care such a wonderful experience. I love how I felt in control of all of my prenatal care decisions. She was always happy to help point me in the right direction when I had questions. During my labor and daughter’s birth, she was the perfect support. I knew she was there when I needed her, but she let me, my body, and my baby do our thing. She is one amazing woman and midwife! We will certainly be calling her if there is another baby to come!
Rebekah is not only an amazing midwife but person as well! She is professional, knowledgeable, & resourceful! Rebekah has such a warm & kind soul. If you are thinking about choosing her as your Midwife, set up a meeting & see for yourself! You will love her!
When my husband and I decided we were ready to have kids, I started learning about childbirth options and I started hearing a lot of great things about home births. For my first birth I wanted to try it out and I’m so glad I did.
It so happened that when I finally went into labor, my midwife was out of town. Rebekah from Lilac City Midwifery stepped in and I had a great experience. When I told her my contractions were getting much more intense and I wanted her company, Rebekah came to me in the middle of the night and stayed by my side until several hours after my daughter was born. Rebekah was great at encouraging me through the contractions and giving me tasks that simultaneously distracted me from discomfort and helped me breathe better, etc. When I asked my dilation?/ETA? questions, Rebekah always made me feel that I was progressing well. Rebekah let me find the positions I felt were comfortable to me and she diligently monitored my baby’s heart beat. In the end I had my baby in my arms and I was already cozy in my own bed. I loved my home birth with Rebekah there!
Rebekah Alice was my midwife/doula for my first pregnancy this last year. From the very first time I met her, it was obvious that she is very passionate about helping families have the birth that they are hoping for and feel most comfortable with. She has gone above and beyond to care for me, my husband, and our new baby.
My prenatal visits were always at least an hour long and she took so much time to answer my questions, educate, and help me make informed decisions about my prenatal care. I am a critical care nurse and felt like I had a good baseline understanding of pregnancy and childbirth, but Rebekah helped take my knowledge so much further.
Rebekah came to our home and labored with me for several hours. As soon as she got to our home I felt the safety and freedom I needed to be able to labor at home without fear. Her encouragement and reassurance were exactly what I needed during those hours. She helped me become the first woman in my family for many generations to give birth naturally. She was so kind and encouraging throughout my entire labor & she helped my husband know how to come alongside and support me as well. I don’t think she ate or sat down even one time in over 10 hours of being by my side. She has continued to support and educate me during my postpartum period as well.
I can’t recommend Rebekah highly enough. She has such a heart for people and her care and kindness were such a vital part of my son’s birth story. It is so obvious that Rebekah loves birth and loves being a midwife. She is professional and passionate about what she does, and she does it so well.
Knowledgeable, kind hearted, thorough, calming and tender are the words I think of when I hear Lilac City Midwifery. If you want the freedom to make your own choices concerning your birth yet have someone graciously come alongside you to share wisdom and tools to help you achieve the birth you have imagined, then you won’t regret choosing Lilac.
I so loved working with Rebekah! She was such a peaceful but strong presence at my births and I so deeply appreciated all of her tireless attentiveness as I labored. This woman knows what she is doing, and I’m proud of our midwifery community here in Spokane. They are the wisewomen keeping alive the inherant ability of women to help each other know deeply that we have what it takes to birth our children- we have what it takes- and Rebekah will firmly tell you so if you choose to bring her into your birth story…
Rebekah helped care for me during my pregnancy and was there at the delivery when my husband and I chose to have a hospital birth. She was there to answer every single question I had, and always offered the most warm and knowledgeable help I’ve ever experienced from a medical professional. She spent all the time with me I needed after the birth and took such amazing care of my whole family as we welcomed our tiny baby.
I was sooo blessed to have Rebekah and Eva as my midwives! From the first time that my husband and I met them we felt very comfortable with them. They were so warm, kind, knowledgable and experienced. Before I got pregnant, I never really thought of having midwives, but once we started researching our options, we discovered Lilac City Midwifery!! What stood out to me on their website was Psalm 139:14- that each woman and baby are fearfully and wonderfully made.
The whole time I was in their care, they were very attentive and always answered our questions. I also appreciated how they recommended natural remedies and exercises for me to do to help with my pregnancy and childbirth.
Once it came time to have my baby, Eva and Rebekah came when I was in active labor and were amazing at helping me through labor and delivery and my husband was super supportive too!
In the beginning, I was a bit nervous about having a home birth, but I am grateful that God blessed us with an amazing hom
e birth experience, a healthy baby and awesome midwives! I also appreciate and will always remember how the midwives prayed with us when I was starting labor and after our baby girl came. It meant so much!! <3

My husband Drew and I first heard about the idea of a midwife from Drew’s uncle. His daughter had a successful home birth, at first as a father he was worried about not giving birth in a hospital but after seeing her experience he was so happy with her decision. We were getting frustrated with our ob gyn appointments because we felt like we didn’t get much time to get our questions answered with the doctor and the doctor just hurried us along to schedule the next appointment.
The idea of a midwife and a home birth was becoming more idealistic for us, especially because we wanted a natural birth but was told at the hospital I would automatically be hooked up to an IV, to me that does not allow the body to move naturally. I felt confident in Drew and my decision to have a home birth, especially after researching hospital protocols and the cost of a hospital birth. Don’t get me wrong, hospital births are wonderful for those who need them, however for my individual care and pregnancy the home birth was my goal. We had so much faith in our midwifes at Lilac City Midwifery. They are highly educated individuals and know exactly how much time we had to get to the hospital if anything would have happened. The moment Drew and I interviewed Rebekah Shaddy, I knew she was the one I wanted to take care of me during my prenatals as well as deliver our baby and future children. Rebekah is so kindhearted and loving, she turns anything she touches into gold and makes you feel taken care of. I value education and am always researching, I would always ask Rebekah questions and if she didn’t have an answer right away, she would research it and get back to me. Her research was always thorough and I appreciated that. I also appreciated how when I had appointments with Rebekah and Eva that they spoke to me like I was a human and educated me and talked to me about medical subjects that I could understand. I am very thankful that Rebekah is here for me anytime I needed her throughout my care and worked with my hectic work schedule to get me in for appointments. The care that I received from Lilac City Midwifery is like none other and I definitely wouldn’t have been treated the same at the doctors office. I went into labor with our 12 day overdue baby on Labor Day. We welcomed her into the world on 9/6/16 with the help of my wonderful husband Drew, Rebekah, Eva and Emily. My husband, Drew was so amazing and such a strong support for me. I couldn’t have done it without him. I am so thankful for him and helping me get through such a wonderful and peaceful delivery in the comfort of our own home. I also have Rebekah, Eva and Emily to thank. They helped me to live my dream of having a drug free birth and welcome our beautiful daughter into this world. I can’t imagine not having a home birth. Everything about it for me was so perfect and I am so thankful for my journey.
“I was pregnant with our fifth child in a third world country. I had run out of options and really wanted to stay with my family and have a quiet home birth if at all possible. That’s when Rebekah Shaddy entered the picture! She flew out before my due date and was such a source of encouragement, homeopathic knowledge and such a lovely person to have join our family for a few weeks.
Throughout the labor and delivery, Rebekah was patient, gentle and reminded me to breath and stay in control. She held my hand and massaged my back when I asked her to. Her presence was really calming and empowering. I am so thankful to God for blessing us with Rebekah during such a precious time of our lives.
We welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world. I caught him in the birth pool with all my other children there to meet him.
I recommend Rebekah and Lilac City Midwifery to any woman who wants a peaceful and joyful home birth experience.”

But you are there to help me,and you said to me “Are you ok? Please don’t give up because your baby want to see the world”. Hi! My name is Cheezel. I gave birth last October 11, 2013 at Mercy Maternity Center. Rebekah took care of me from the 1st month of my pregnancy up to the day of my delivery.
She is so nice and generous and approachable. She is a friend. She provided me all the necessary things that I need to know in taking care the baby inside me. Before and after my prenatal check-up we pray, and I think that helped me a lot. On the day of my delivery, she teaches me the positions that I must perform so that labor is much easier and it really helped a lot. It‘s a successful normal delivery. I just gave birth again last January 2 of this year, I even apply those tips and delivered my baby very fast than expected. She is knowledgeable and the way she handles me, I am so confident that me and my baby will be fine. Thank you Rebekah.
“I really can’t speak highly enough of Rebekah. Through it all she was the most lovely, attentive, and supportive woman I could ask for to assist with the birth of my second child. Despite the fact that I didn’t meet her until I was neck deep in labour, she was absolutely intuitive to my unspoken preferences. From the moment she walked in she was full of positive energy and really engaged in making sure I was taken care of and that the labour was running smoothly.
I learned later that she had come at a moment’s notice on the heels of a whole weekend of births and running on an undesirable amount of sleep. For all that I never noticed. She was alert and quick to find solutions to even the smallest predicament. Her endurance and professionalism reassured me that not only was she phenomenal at her job, she loved it too. Her knowledge and discernment eased any anxiety that I had. She went above and beyond staying until she was certain that everything had been taken care of, from helping my midwife make sure all information was recorded to cleaning up and helping with baby.
Birth is a natural part of life; and Rebekah is a natural when it comes to birth. She is the kind of midwife that makes me want to have more babies because she helped make that time so special. She is a midwife that I want to recommend to other woman because I know how well she will take care of them.”
